Using Encyclopedias in Research

Encyclopedias can be great resources to introduce topics with which you may be unfamiliar; however, when you are doing academic research you need to dig deeper for information.  As a general practice, you should never cite an encyclopedia as a resource in any research project for school--not just Wikipedia but any encyclopedia.
